How the stones are shelved
Diamond, ruby, sapphire and emerald are called precious in the trade for hardness and custom, not for a soul. Amethyst was once dearer than they were, until the geodes opened in Brazil.
The shelves here are plain: A–G, G–O, P–U, as in the old menu. Opalite is usually glass, not opal. Zircon is not cubic zirconia. Jadeite and nephrite are both called jade, and they are two minerals.
