Moonstone is (Na,K)AlSi₃O₈ before it is a story. The lattice is monoclinic, Mohs 6–6.5, and the eye meets white.
The better pieces still come out of the ground in Sri Lanka, India, Madagascar. June’s feldspar floats a blue sheen that moves when the cabochon turns, adularescence from thin layers.
The parlour tradition ties Moonstone to water and to the sacral centre. The old site stood it near: Cancer, Libra, Scorpio. Old tables sit it beside June.
